A reciprocity agreement between the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors of Sri Lanka was signed yesterday (25).
The main purpose of signing this agreement is to further develop mutual cooperation between two institutions and to share knowledge.
The 15th Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyor’s Congress (PAQS) hosted by the Institute of Quantity Surveyors (IQSSL) of Sri Lanka was held yesterday building more partnerships with fellow practitioners.
This year’s congress attracted a large number of foreign delegations and industry professionals in many countries.
The per capita income in Sri Lanka had doubled to surpass US $ 2,000 threshold within the first five years of ascendancy of President Mahinda Rajapaksa with an economic growth of 8% last year, said Finance and Planning Deputy Minister Githanjana Gunawardena addressing the 15th Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyor’s Congress.
It is expected to further double per capita income up to US $ 4,000 by 2015. Such growth points towards the enormity of management challenges inherent in sustaining the dynamism of the development within which also lay vast opportunities for involvement of QS professionals, he said.
