The Cabinet of Ministers approved the establishment of a sub-committee on power and energy and the supply and distribution of petroleum products.

Its task would be to oversee importation and distribution of petroleum products for all purposes, including power generation.

The committee comprises Ministers A.H.M. Fowzie, Susil Premjayantha, Patali Champika Ranawaka, W.D.J.Seneviratne and Dilan Perera.

The Power and Energy Ministry secretary will function as the Sub-Committee secretary.

The Cabinet has decided that, Finance and Planning Ministry Secretary, Co-Chief Executive Officer of the Secretariat for Senior Ministers and Petroleum Industries Ministry Secretary should also attend the meetings of this Sub-Committee.
