Most of us in the West tend to make generalizations about the Indian subcontinent. Sri Lanka is extraordinary, its people very hard working and very committed. It had been a pleasing experience working with them, said Oscar winning British actor Sir Ben Kingsley, The Daily News reports today. The award winning actor renowned for his role as Mohandas Gandhi in Richard Attenboroug’s Gandhi was in Sri Lanka recently to portray the lead role in Chandran Rutnam’s movie A Common Man. Speaking about his experience of working with the Sri Lankan people on the sets of the film, Kingsley said, “I don’t feel that there is a hidden agenda here. What you see is what you get and that is very important when you are making a film”. “You are dealing with stacks of money, personnel, transport, the structure and the infrastructure”, he added. “The politics of the film set are fascinating and I feel very secure knowing that when a person says that they are doing something or going to do something, they really mean it. This helped me to complete my task efficiently… Shooting in Sri Lanka was a really marvelous experience.” A Common Man is a suspense thriller based on an Indian film. It deals with the theme of eradicating terrorism. The film is currently in the stage of post-production.
