The President and the Sri Lankan delegation were received by the Executive Vice Foreign Minister of China Zhang Zhijun.

President Rajapaksa is on a four-day official visit to China on an invitation extended by his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao during the bilateral meeting held in St. Petersburg, Russia this June.

During his stay in Beijing and Shenzhen, President Rajapaksa will hold bilateral meetings with the Chinese President Hu Jintao and the Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.
He will also attend the opening ceremony of the Universiade in Shenzhen.
