GAC to use H'tota port for shipping and marine activities

 

GAC, a global shipping agency and offshore marine services provider, announced yesterday (11) that it had decided to use newly-built Hambantota port for their shipping & marine activities.

GAC plans are currently underway to develop Hambantota Port activities where number of unique facilities is available," the shipping agent said in a statement.

Three new specially built crew/supply boats will join the current fleet in Sri Lanka’s southern waters and GAC has contracted to transport two of these boats on ‘Beluga Singapore’ a specialised heavy lift carrier to Hambantota which is scheduled to call in mid-August whilst the third boat is expected in Colombo from Netherlands around 3rd week of August.

"This will be the first specialised cargo discharge operation to be carried out at Hambantota and GAC is proud to be the first to operate at this unique Port of Hambantota. GAC handled the first bunker barge at the inauguration of the Port of Hambantota.
