President visits Ekwemu Sri Lanka workshop

President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the workshop conducted by the Ekwemu Sri Lanka (Sri Lanka Unity) Organization at Asgiriya grounds, Kandy on Saturday (August 20).

Held under the theme ‘We will not let the hatred of the past control the present and destroy our future’, the workshop invites the participation of student leaders from schools representing all districts. The attendees represent all religions, ethnic groups and diverse backgrounds.

It is also attended by student leaders from overseas schools, for example from Congo and Australia among others.

Held for the third time, the four-day workshop features a number of programmes aimed at promoting the value of friendship and sharing among participants.

President Rajapaksa engaged in a conversation with the youth who were taking part in the workshop. He was accompanied by Chief of Presidential Staff Gamini Senarath.
