The Navy base at Puttur, Kinniya will not be shifted, says the Sri Lanka Navy. Additional troops have been deployed in Kinniya to enhance security following the clashes triggered by a group in the area in a bid to compel the government to shift the Navy base on Monday.

The protests are triggered by a certain group involved in illegal fishing and human smuggling, the Navy Spokesperson said. The police will take necessary measures to ensure law and order in the area, he further said.
