Ramadan prayers for SL in Palestine |

Islamic Da'awa community members and other Muslims at Beitour in Ramallah prayed for peace, prosperity in Sri Lanka and wellbeing and good health pf President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the peoples of Sri Lanka.
The leader of the Da'awa community Sheik Jamal Ali Saleh Suleiman (Samarah) organized the prayers after Iftar on 13th Friday at the mosque at Beitour.
Da'awa community in Beitour is very close to Sri Lanka as members of this community visit Sri Lanka very often for religious services. They all have a great regard for the peoples of Sri Lanka and bring the message that Muslims in Sri Lanka a contended and hospitable community as they are well treated by the government and enjoy equal rights. They are happy that Muslims hold very high positions in Sri Lanka.
Sheikh Ra’fat in his opening remarks gave an account of the close relationship between Palestine and Sri Lanka and the peoples of the countries that expands for a long period of time. He reminded of the visit of President Yasser Arafat and President Mahmoud Abbas to Sri Lanka.
He also stated that in order to recognize the contribution made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to the Palestinian cause from 1975 functioning as the President of Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine, Municipal Council of Beitunia has named the road in front of the Sri Lanka Mission as H. E. Mahinda Rajapaksa Road.
The Sri Lankan representative in Palestine, Dr. T. Jayasinghe in his address thanked Sheikh Jamal Ali Saleh Suleiman (Samarah) and also those who prayed for the wellbeing of Sri Lanka and President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He also reiterated the long standing relationship between Sri Lanka and Palestine and the role played by Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine from 1975.
He also stated that President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the peoples of Sri Lanka will continue to suppor the Palestinian cause as they did in the past.
