Effective campaign needed to counter false allegations – President

 

President Mahinda Rajapaksa emphasized on an effective pro-Sri Lanka campaign through a strong communication network to counter bogus publicity generated overseas against the country.

Addressing a group Sri Lankan expatriates from the Europe and Australia at Temple Tress on Saturday, President said the expats can play a leading role in such mechanism.

"It is the duty of our expatriates to counter this disinformation and build a healthy public opinion in the West for Sri Lanka," the President said.

Participants at the discussion too, agreed with him that there is need for a stronger mechanism to counter LTTE propaganda.

President appreciated the contribution made by the Sri Lankans living aboard during the period of the conflict and urge them to use their knowledge, entrepreneurship and financial support to rebuild the country.
