UNICEF expands 2009 family reunion programme

The United Nations Children's Fund (INICEF) has expanded its project to reunite family members, who were separated in the last phase of the Humanitarian Operation.

The programme was started in 2009 after the defeat of the LTTE and was run with the government support.
UNICEF staff, running the programme in north and two districts in east are now expanding it to cover the entire northern province and part of eastern province.

Sri Lanka Representative for UNICEF Reza Hossaini said that tracing the children is an important part of the reconciliation process.
