President receives feedback from more ministries

 

President Mahinda Rajapaksa met with Ministers of Postal Services, Telecommunication and Information Technology, and Mass Media and Information yesterday (September 7) at Temple Trees to receive ideas and views for the preparation of the Budget 2012.

He said that the Government specially focuses on spreading IT knowledge islandwide, and for this purpose, it is necessary to accelerate the Nenasala project around the country.

The officers present at the meeting pointed out that they face various difficulties with regard to abilities and skills of recruits to their institutions. In response, President Rajapaksa emphasized the need for an agreement between heads of institutions and the universities to create a skilled workforce.

Adding his views, Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media and Information W. B. Ganegala elaborated on the measures taken by the Government to uplift professional capacities of journalists.

The meeting was attended by Senior Minister Prof. Tissa Vitharana, Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Minister of Postal Services Jeevan Kumaranatunga, Minister of Mass Media and Information Keheliya Rambukwella and officers of the relevant ministries.
