Sri Lanka’s first woman Attorney General appointed

 

Solicitor General Eva Wanasundara was appointed as the new Attorney General today (12) by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

She was the first woman appointed as an Attorney General in Sri Lanka.

Solicitor General Eva Wanasundara was also appointed as the Acting Attorney General twice before.

Wanasundara sworn in as an Attorney-at-Law in 1977 became a State Counsel in 1979. She became the first woman Senior State Counsel in 1992 and the first woman Additional Solicitor General in 2005. She was an old girl of Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya.
