More fish landing centres opened

 

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Ministry opened four fish landing centres in the Mannar District, yesterday (Sep. 11) while another three fish landing centres will be opened in Mullativu District today.

Accordingly, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne opened fish landing centres in Wedithalativu, Pesalei, Thalwapadu and Pallimunai in the Mannar District. Another three fish landing centres will be opened in Seelawathei, Kallapadu, Manelkudirippu and a fisheries office in the Mullativu District.

According to Fisheries Ministry sources the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) had spent over Rs.80 million in collaboration with the Canadian Development Fund on this Fish Landing Centre (FLC) project for infrastructure and business plan development.
