Permanent houses for Vavuniya people

109 permanent houses built for the families affected by the conflict in the Vavuniya District were handed over to the beneficiaries last week.

This housing programme funded by the European Union and implemented by the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Deutschland (ASB) amounts to a sum of Rs.1.86 billion. More than 2500 houses are scheduled to be constructed in the Vavuniya district under this programme.

In line with the Northern Spring (‘Uthuru Wasanthaya’) Programme initiated by the Sri Lankan Government, this programme is a collaborative endeavour by the Ministry of Economic Development, the Presidential Task Force for Resettlement, Development and Security of the Northern Province, and the District Secretariat of Vavuniya.
