Negombo gets a modern bus stand

 

The modern Negombo Bus Stand Complex constructed at a cost of Rs.220 Million was declared open by the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa, yesterday (Oct. 04)

It has a space of 60,000 sq. ft. There are Cinema Theatres in the top floor, 78 trade stalls, a public restaurant, resting and waiting halls, 14 toilets for the public and 36 toilets for the employees of trade stalls.

This modern bus stand is also fixed with elevators, and a digital time showing arrival and departure times of buses, similar to the flights schedules shown in the Airport. Nearly 35000 passengers are using this bus stand daily.

Construction of this 3 storied Bus Stand Complex was started in June 2010. Funds for this complex have been jointly provided by the Ministry of Economic Development and the Negombo Municipal Council.
