SLPA - Mediterranean Shipping Company Terminal Service Agreement extended

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), a Geneva based company, has decided to extend its ongoing Terminal Service Agreement with Sri Lanka Ports Authority for another 2 years, Sri Lanka Ports Authority said.

MSC services Jaya Container Terminal since December, 2009. It processes more than 1,800 moves per vessel.

The agreement was scheduled to expire on the 31st of December 2011.

SLPA Chairman Dr. Priyath B Wickrama and Managing Director Captain Nihal Keppetipola recently visited the headquarters of the MSC and held discussions with the officials.

Dr. Wickrama said that the company has shown their interest to become an equity partner in port development projects in Sri Lanka.

MSC is the world's second-largest container shipping line.
