The Punjab Prosecution Department on Monday moved a petition in the Supreme Court Lahore registry, seeking cancellation of the bail granted to Malik Muhammad Ishaq, the alleged mastermind of the 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team.
The department submitted in the petition that certain aspects of the case were not presented before the court. A two-member bench of the Supreme Court on July 10 had granted bail to Ishaq who belonged to the banned outfit Sipah-i-Sahaba that paved the way for his release from the jail after 12 years, TheNews website reported.
The bench of Justice MA Shahid Siddiqui and Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa had also expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the prosecution in establishing its case against the accused.
Meanwhile, the prosecution department had also moved two petitions in the Lahore High Court for cancellation of bails granted to Mohsin Rafiq and Ishfaq, both accused of attacking Sri Lanka cricket team.
