Kiev – Colombo regular flights commenced

The Ukrainian airline Aerosvit started regular direct non-stop flights between Kiev and Colombo, yesterday from its base Borispol Airport.

The first flight carrying its passengers from Kiev arrived in Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake Colombo on Sunday (23).

The largest Ukrainian air carrier begins with three flights a week - on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The return flights to Kiev from Colombo are scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Colombo will be Aerosvit's sixth destination to provide long-haul non-stop flights. A wide-body Boeing 767 will carry the passengers on a 9-hour flight.

The new flight to Colombo is aimed primarily at the service of tourist flows to Sri Lanka. It will provide services to connecting flights from Stockholm, Copenhagen, Budapest, Vilnius, Warsaw, Prague, Sofia, Riga, Moscow, Minsk, New York, Toronto, Tel Aviv, Istanbul and other points of the Aerosvit route network, the airline says.

Aerosvit also seeks to establish a codeshare agreement with Sri Lanka's national carrier, SriLankan Airlines and waiting for the SriLankan's response, Aerosvit's Sri Lanka Country Manager Yana Sopol said.
