Flood situation in Bangkok

The Ministry of External Affairs requests Sri Lankan nationals intending to visit Thailand at this point of time to do so only if it is urgent and necessary travel. This is due to the severe flooding in Thailand.

Latest reports from Bangkok indicate that some parts of the Thai capital, Bangkok, are already under water and others likely to be inundated with rising flood waters in the coming days.

The Thai Ministry of Tourism has already advised that travellers to Bangkok change their plans and those already in Bangkok to move to safer provinces.

Therefore, unless it is extremely essential, Sri Lankans are advised to temporarily postpone their travel to Bangkok until such time the situation improves, stated the Ministry of External Affairs.

Updated information regarding the situation in Thailand can be obtained through the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs on website www.mfa.go.th or through the Flood Relief Operations Centre at +66 (0) 25043248-51 or Fax +66 (0) 25043252.

The Sri Lanka Embassy in Bangkok can be reached through +66 (0) 22611934.
