One hundred and eighteen doctors will be appointed to the Northern Province from October 7.

Accordingly, 72 doctors will be appointed for Jaffna District, 28 doctors for Kilinochchi District, 26 doctors for Mullative District, 24 doctors for Mannar District and 18 doctors for Vavuniya District.

“Many complaints and requests were received with regards to the shortages of doctors in the Northern Province. We brought these requests and demands to the attention of Health Ministry and accordingly, the Ministry decided to appoint 118 doctors of the 600 doctors who completed their Medical course, to the hospitals in the Northern Province”, said Dr. Ravindran, Secretary of Northern Provincial Health Ministry.
