Activities of the projects carried out under the foreign aids by the Ministry of Planning which was nullified in the month of April 2010, have been entrusted to the Department of Foreign Aids and Budget Monitoring established in 2005.

The main task of this Department is to function as a centre for operation and follow up the implementation of government policies, programmes and projects, supervision and evaluation of the projects and giving assistance to expedite the projects being implemented under foreign aids and credits.

Approval of the cabinet of Ministers has been granted to revise the name of the Department as Department of Project Management and Monitoring with effect from 01.11.2011 so as to manifest the responsibility and the task of the Department and the changes taken place in the process of current economic development in order to achieve the above objectives, stated the Ministry of Finance and Planning
