Revival of Underperforming Enterprises Bill consistent with Constitution

 
Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody informed Parliament that the "Revival of Underperforming Enterprises and Underutilized Assets" Bill is not inconsistent with the Constitution.

However, the Court informed that certain errors in drafting needs correction at the Committee stage of the Bill.

The proposed bill was submitted to the Supreme Court recently by President Mahinda Rajapaksa seeking its ruling whether it is in accordance with the Constitution.

The Bill was presented to Parliament by Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne short while ago.
