World AIDS Day today

 
The national ceremony to mark the World AIDS Day that falls on today is scheduled to be held at New Bazaar Maternity Home, Colombo under the patronage of Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena, Health Ministry sources say. This event will be attended by Colombo Mayor A.J. Muzammil as well as the public.

The ceremony will feature a National AIDS Walk.

This is the first World AIDS Day national ceremony to be attended by the public. All ceremonies were earlier held in five star hotels and institutions with the participation of invitees who are aware of this issue.

Minister Sirisena has requested health officials to conduct public awareness programmes in public places outside the Colombo city.
