The people-friendly journey of the Government cannot be hampered by narrow political aims. The clergy have the right to guide the Government in the correct direction, and they duly fulfill that duty, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Subhadraramaya, Batapola.
Referring to the challenges the country was faced with when the present Government came to office in 2005, he elaborated on the Government’s successful journey overcoming the terrorism in the North, world food crisis, economic recession, and various foreign forces.
The public have the right to comment, and politics is impossible without the capacity to face comments. The President noted that he is accustomed to political criticism, and he would not shy away from it.
