Bilateral talks between President and Qatar Premier
Qatar Gvt and investors ready to invest in Sri Lanka

 

Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani called upon President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday (Dec. 12).

The two State leaders held bilateral talks after holding talks at a private level.

The President apprised the Qatar Premier of the progress achieved by Sri Lanka during the past two years, particularly in resettlement of the people in the North after eliminating terrorism.

Expressing his appreciation of the progress achieved by Sri Lanka in a short period of time, Qatar Premier said he was very happy to visit Sri Lanka. His Government was keen to expand trade relations with Sri Lanka, he added.

He also said that the Qatar Government and investors are willing to large scale hotels in tourist hotspots, and for this purpose, investors from Qatar hope to visit Sri Lanka.

They also expressed their willingness to investment in agriculture and fisheries. It was decided that the two countries need to further discuss these plans.
