Income per tourist per day increased this year

 

The revenues obtained per tourist have also increased compared to last year. Income per tourist was US$ 88 a day of duration last year but it has increased to US$ 97 a day within the first nine months of this year, the official figures show.

Sri Lanka increased tourism industry earning to US$ 580 million within this year so far.

Sri Lanka targeted 750,000 tourist arrivals in the year 2011 which would earn US$ 585 Million at an average daily spend of US$ 97 per tourist with 8.6 days average duration and 23,500-room capacity. However that target has already been exceeded by November, according to the Tourism Authority data.

The number of tourist arrivals increased by 34.3% and the country expects 850,000 arrivals by the end of the year. Sri Lanka anticipates the arrival of the 800,000th tourist on Monday.
