Another major shopping complex soon

 
The old Race Course on Reid Avenue area in Colombo 7 is to be converted to a major shopping and entrainment complex.

The old Race Course is being renovated by the Urban Development Authority (UDA) and several shops and restaurants would be moving. “This would be similar to the Old Dutch Hospital in Fort which is now an icon in the city of Colombo,” a UDA official said.

Already several restaurants and department stores have shown a keen interest to move into these new premises, he said. The new premises will be ready early next year.

The ground too is being redone while the walls in the nearby buildings were brought down to create walkways similar to developed countries with special night lighting and security.
