The CCTV camera system in Colombo will be upgraded in a manner where individuals and vehicle number plates can be recognized.

According to IGP N.K. Illangakoon the Police planning to introduce a system where fines imposed for traffic offences could be paid through SMSs.

Mr. Illangakoon pointed out that a procedure of providing promotions and transfer in accordance with the public services commission will be introduced for all officials in the police service.
