|
Sri Pada, also known as Adam's Peak will be the first mountain in the itinerary of 18 mountains to be climbed by a group of Malaysians within the next eight months.
For the group of 11, it will be a religious experience as well as a fact finding mission as they scale the mountains which are significant to Muslims and those of Abrahamic and Dharmic faiths.
It will be an experience they will share with others during and on their return from the journeys to the mountains most of which are believed to have been visited by prophets.
The expedition is led by Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin, president of the ‘Kelab Eksplorasi 7 Benua Malaysia’.
The mountains to be scaled include those in Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Israel, and Russia.
Speaking to journalists at the Kuala Lumpur Airport just prior to leaving for Sri Lanka Muqharabin said that he hoped to make the expedition an annual event.
The Sri Pada season which begins in December continues till April and thousands of pilgrims of the different faiths as well tourists from around the globe make the arduous climb.
