Arrangements have been made to provide special vocational training on modern technology to fishermen.

According to the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, this training will help prevent accidents which fishermen have to face while fishing in deep seas. All fishermen completing this training will receive certificates, he added.

As said by the Ministry, modern technology, vessels and equipment are the most important things to develop the fisheries industry to have a good fish harvest. Better awareness on safety, vessel safety and vessel repairs are also important for fishermen while fishing in the deep seas.

The Ministry has arranged this training programme to develop the fisheries industry as one of the most efficient and productive industries, the Minister said.
