Sri Lanka Navy has Sri Lanka released the 13 Indian fishermen arrested for trespassing into Sri Lankan waters.
The fishermen were arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy poaching in the Sri Lankan waters off the eastern coast of Trincomalee and seized their two trawlers on January 11.
The Navy said its patrolling vessels apprehended the Indian fishing trawlers with the 13 crew members for willfully trespassing on Sri Lankan waters when the trawlers have made an "unwarranted movement towards land".
The trawlers and the crew were handed over to the Trincomalee Harbour Police following their arrest.
Following discussions between Sri Lankan authorities and the Indian High Commission in Colombo, the authorities have decided to release the fishermen who are at present under the care of the Indian High Commission.
