The fourth edition of “Flavours from Sri Lanka”, a food festival to mark the 64th Independence Day of Sri Lanka, was opened yesterday (5) by the Sri Lankan Ambassador Jayantha Palipan at the Gulf Paradise Hotel, Doha.
The event, hosted with support from the Sri Lankan embassy in Qatar, is held at Al Thoraya restaurant at the ground floor of the hotel and will run until February 11, says The Peninsula.
Two expert Sri Lankan chefs have been specially flown in from the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel in Colombo to prepare top Sri Lankan dishes, said General Manager of the Gulf Paradise Hotel, Fouzi Mohideen.
The buffet is open from 6pm to 11pm daily but the General Manager encouraged people to take part in the allotted time slots – from 7pm to 9pm and from 9pm to 11pm.
Mohideen said there will be a backdrop promoting Sri Lanka and the various attractions the country offered.
