Russia, Kuwait congratulate Sri Lanka on Independence Day


Sri Lanka has achieved significant results in securing sustainable economic and social development, consolidation of democratic state institutions, Russian President Dmitry A Medvedev in a message to President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Sri Lanka’s 64th Independence Day said.

“Our countries are tied up by strong bonds of friendship and cooperation, long-standing traditions of mutual respect and trust,” in his message the Russian President said.

“I am confident that further progressive extension of Russia - Sri Lanka relations serves the interests of our citizens as well as facilitates consolidation of regional stability and security”, he further said.

The government of Kuwait also sent congratulatory messages to Sri Lanka on the occasion of its 64th Independence Day celebrations.
