Singapore names orchid after President & First Lady |

The Dendrobium Mahinda Shiranthi, a new orchid hybrid, was named after President Mahinda Rajapaksa and First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa in honor of their visit to Singapore.
The new orchid was named and introduced to President Rajapaksa and First Lady by the Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Poon Hong Yuen when the President visited the Singapore Botanic Gardens today (15).
External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris, Secretary to the President, Lalith Weeratunga and Ferial Ashraff, High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in Singapore also participated at this event.
