President returns

President Mahinda Rajapaksa returned to the country a short while after completing a successful tour in Singapore.

He visited Singapore on an invitation extended by Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam.

During his two-day official visit President Rajapaksa held bilateral meeting with Singapore President and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Defence Minister Dr. Ng Eng Hen and Minister of Community Development, Youth and Sports Chan Chun Sing.

The Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka and Singapore Business Federation signed the MoU to promote investment relations between the two countries during the visit.

Under the MoU, the two countries are expected to strengthen the institutional relations between them.

Accordingly, both organizations will, among other things, promote joint venture collaborations between their private sectors, create a congenial atmosphere for business and investment in all economic sectors of Sri Lanka and Singapore, use their countries as a hub to trade and invest in the region and exchange investment policies and information relating to relevant projects.
