The United States said Tuesday that it is not able to authenticate a video which the Britain's Channel 4 Television is claiming to be a new footage allegedly showing the execution of 12-year-old son of former LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran.
With regard to the video that is circulating, that we obviously are not able to authenticate," the State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said at the daily press briefing in response to a media query.
Meanwhile, the allegation of former LTTE chief Prabhakaran’s 12-year old son being killed in cold blood is a concoction and it is unsubstantiated, uncorroborated and not been checked by any authority, Sri Lankan High Commissioner in India Prasad Kariyawasam, speaking to NDTV in an interview said.
This is the second time Channel 4 in UK has come up with such allegations. Like the first set of productions, this is also unsubstantiated, uncorroborated and not been checked by any authority and we think is concoction. And we would not welcome it because that part of the war was unclear, it was incomplete and to that purpose to set up some examination of what happened, Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission has made some recommendations and government and our parliament is now in the process of looking at those things to take step by step measures as they are recommended and we want home grown solutions.’ the High Commissioner added.
