There will be no room to create ethnic disharmony among the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities in the country, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said.
Addressing the opening ceremony of a newly-built three storied mosque in Nuwara Eliya yesterday, the President noted the strong historic ties that existed between the Sinhala and Muslim communities and said the communities should not bow down to the negative elements that try to fracture the country.
The mosque has been built with the financial assistance of Marjhan Faleel Foundation and the devotees.
The President planted a Rathmal sapling in the premises of the mosque to mark the occasion.
Parliamentarians C.B. Ratnayake, Naveen Dissanayake, V. Puttirasigamani and Sri Ranga were among those present on this occasion.
