An Indian delegation of Members of Parliament will arrive in Colombo today. The delegation headed by Leader of Opposition in the Indian Parliament, Sushma Swaraj will hold bilateral discussions with President Mahinda Rajapaksa and several other political dignitaries including the Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe and members of Tamil National Alliance and Sri Lanka Muslim Congress.
The delegation is scheduled to visit Medawachchiya on April 18 where some of the major Indian government funded projects are ongoing. The delegation leaves for Mullaitivu, where they will witness a slew of projects being carried out – handing over of equipment for a Government Hospital, handing over some units of the dragging Housing Project, inaugurating repaired schools, and handing over bicycles.
The Security Forces Commander will brief the delegation on the progress on various fronts. The delegation travels to Jaffna, where it will interact with MPs and civil society representatives. The delegation will visit Kankasanthurai Harbour too, where India had carried out a US $ 20 million wreck removal operation recently.
On April 20th the delegation will visit Batticaloa and Dickoya.
