External Affairs Minister Prof. G. L. Peiris will leave for Egypt today to participate in the Non-Aligned Movement Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau held from May 7-10 in Charm El Sheikh, Egypt. The Minister is scheduled to deliver two presentations on May 10th, one on behalf of Sri Lanka and the other on behalf of Asia Pacific Group of NAM, at the closing stages of coordinating Bureau meeting, the External Affairs Ministry said. Some 120 member states of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), as well as 17 observers and 10 organizations are expected to attend the meetings.
Minister Peiris is also expected to conduct bilateral discussions with the leaders of other countries including the Chairman of NAM on the sidelines of the conference. Prof. Peiris will also meet Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Ali Amr on the sidelines of the conference.
