Asia Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH), an international public health organization will hold its 44th conference in Colombo in October.

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Colombo will host the 44th APACPH Conference from 14th to 17th October, 2012 in Colombo.

The conference will be held at the University of Colombo and Hotel Taj Samudra in Colombo under the theme "Millennium Development Goals beyond 2015: The Challenge for Public Health".

Some of the subthemes to be focused at the conference are - Health as a Human Right, Gender Inequality and Health, Public Health: Best practices, Innovations in Epidemiology, Occupational Health, Complementary Medicine, Disaster, Displacement and Resettlement, Environmental Health, New approaches in NCD prevention, Obesity, Adolescent Health and Mental Health among others.

The APACPH, an international academic organization comprising many of the largest and most influential schools of public health in the Asia Pacific region, holds its annual conference in a major city in the region every year. The last conference was held in Seoul, South Korea and next year's conference will be held in Beijing, China.
