President MahindaRajapakse Friday met with the stakeholders of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) at the Temple Trees to discuss various issues affecting stock market and obtain views and proposals for the 2013 budget.
The participants of the meeting discussed how the country's stock exchange should contribute for the national economy and the measures to be taken to connect the CSE with the world economies.
Speaking at the discussion, the Chairman of the SEC, TilakKarunaratne has pointed out that the CSE is an under-developed market and therefore necessary to introduce regulations to comply with international standards and to mitigate risks.
Deputy Minister GeethanjanaGunawardena, parliamentarians SajinVaasGunawardena, Secretary to the President LalithWeeratunga and Secretary to the Treasury P.B. Jayasundara also participated in the discussion.
