Director of the Department, H.R. Gunasekera has been quoted in the media saying that the follow-up survey would be carried out by department officials at divisional levels and therefore would be an internal survey.

The follow-up survey is aimed at verifying the data collected by enumerators on the population and buildings.

According to Gunasekera, the department has received information about individuals who have not been included in the census.

He has noted that several hundreds of individuals who were not counted have been included in the census.
