National Defence Minister of China Liang Guanglie donated $ 30m to the Defence Service College, the highest donation made by China to an academic institution in Sri Lanka.

The donation included funds and materials for a fully fledged laboratory, furniture to the school, fridges, micro wave ovens etc.

The State Councillor and National Defence Minister of China Liang Guanglie and the delegation were welcomed by a student of the College by garlanding them.

After the exchange of souvenirs, a vote of thanks was delivered in Chinese.

Chinese ambassador to Sri Lanka W V Jianghao, Chief of Defence Staff Air Chief Marshal Roshan Gunathilake, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya, Air Force Commander Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake also participated in the event.
