Large crowds of devotees kept streaming into Matara to pay homage to the Sacred Kapilavasthu Relics yesterday. Nearly 500,000 pilgrims formed long queues outside Matara Kotikagoda Rajamaha Viharaya by noon yesterday where the Relics are reposed for public veneration.
The Exposition which commenced on Sunday from 10.30am will continue until today at Kotikagoda Rajamaha Viharaya from 6am.
In response to a request received from the government, the Indian government agreed to extend the ongoing exposition of the Sacred Kapilavastu Relics in Sri Lanka, by one more week at three additional venues.
The exposition, earlier slated to conclude on 4 September 2012, has been extended till 11 September 2012 as per the schedule below:
