The campaigning activities for the election of three Provincial Councils in came to an end midnight Wednesday.

All major political parties held major rallies with the participation of party leaders.

The Election Department said all propaganda material displayed in public will be removed by police from yesterday.

According to the Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya an office to receive election complaints has been opened at the election secretariat office in Rajagiriya. In addition, units to receive complaints are functioning at every district secretariat office in the districts where the election is being conducted.

The police have deployed about 21,000 officers for the security of the voters and to ensure a free and fair election.
