The 58th Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, which has got underway in Colombo, is a great opportunity to showcase Sri Lanka’s positive achievements post-conflict period. The country’s media should make this Conference a launching pad to generate a positive discourse on this country both locally and internationally, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said.
Addressing the media yesterday (Sep. 07) at the Speaker’s official residence at Battaramulla, the President said that development is getting into top gear in Sri Lanka currently after a prolonged 30-year conflict.
Many positives have been achieved ‘on the ground’ and all this must be brought to the attention of the world. The media could play a positive role in this endeavour. The media can play a principal function in changing misconceptions about Sri Lanka, the President explained. |
