C'wealth ready to offer SL partnership in capacity building to implement LLRC

Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma says in reference to the implementation of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) report, the Commonwealth could offer partnership in capacity-building to Sri Lanka.

The Secretary General has issued a statement prior to his arrival in Colombo to attend the 58th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conference.

He has said, "In terms of our potential support to Sri Lanka in implementing the recommendations of the LLRC report, we can offer partnership in capacity-building to advance the Commonwealth goals of development, democracy and respect for diversity."

The Commonwealth SG is expected to discuss the preparations for the next Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting to be held in Sri Lanka in November next year when he meets with senior Sri Lankan government members.
