Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma says he was glad to see the cheerful faces of people in North and East in Sri Lanka living happily after the terrorism which made them suffer for more than three decades was defeated.
He had seen this when he visited areas in the North and East.
Mr. Sharma said so when he met President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday (Sep. 12).
The Secretary-General discussed with President Rajapaksa the arrangements for the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting which will be held in Sri Lanka in November next year.
He also thanked President for making necessary arrangements to hold the 58th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Sri Lanka.
