Sri Lanka’s Tourism sector has earned US $ 560 million in the first seven months of 2012 making it one of the fastest growing industries in the country.

According to the Central Bank data earnings from tourism in July 2012 grew by 23.6 per cent, to US dollars 100 million.

The number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka totaled 90,338 in July 2012, an increase of 7.8 per cent, raising tourist arrivals during the first seven months of 2012 to 543,205.

Tourist arrivals in the country increased sharply from May 2009 after the restoration of peace.
