The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka condemned attacks on Buddhists in Bangladesh and demanded that authorities there punish those responsible. N.M. Ameen, President of Muslim Council of Sri Lanka, an umbrella organization of over 100 Muslim civil society groups, said that any ethnic incident against minorities in Bangladesh or any other South Asian country “is surely to reflect in our country Sri Lanka too.”
He said his group handed over a letter to Bangladesh’s top diplomat in Sri Lanka, asking the country to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi Buddhists.
